  • Meeting a Celebrity

    By Jason | August 27, 2008

    Liz meets Florence Henderson

Have you ever wanted to meet a celebrity? Maybe you would want to meet an athlete like Michael Jordan, or Tiger Woods. Maybe you would want to meet a movie star like Kevin Costner, or Robin Williams. Maybe your taste is for politics and you would want to meet the President or the Vice President. Maybe you have a taste for TV shows and you would want to meet Steve Carrell, Matthew Fox, or Rainn Wilson. No matter which celebrity it is, I believe all of us regular people are a little awestruck when it comes to meeting someone famous.

Now, I am not the type of person to get real awestruck and stand in lines for hours to see a celebrity but I am always intrigued like any normal person would be. If I were given the chance to meet a celebrity I believe my first choice would be an athlete, like Michael Jordan because I am a huge sport’s fan. However, if I had to choose someone that was a non athlete I would choose either Sylvester Stallone or Michael Keaton. I love watching Rambo, and of course I love all the Rocky movies. Michael Keaton would be my other choice because he is in most of my favorite movies. What would your choice be?

A few weeks ago my wife and I with several family members went to the Chicago air and water show. At one point during the day my wife and my aunt went to go find the restrooms, during their search they stumbled upon none other then Florence Henderson. If you don’t know who I am talking about , that’s okay because until my wife told me her t.v. name, I was trying to figure out if some lady named Florence was a family member or an old coworker of my wife’s. Of course when my wife showed me the picture and said it was the mom from the Brady Bunch, Carol Brady, I knew exactly who it was. Who hasn’t seen an episode of the Brady Bunch? If you asked my wife if Florence Henderson would have been on her list as the top celebrity to meet she would have probably said no but I can tell you when she came back from the restrooms she was very excited.

So I am very special now because I know the woman that had her picture taken with Carol Brady! As we left the air show that day, I looked for the rest of Carol Brady’s family, Mike, Cindy Greg, Peter, Bobby, Jan and Marsha Marsha Marsha but I could not find them, they must have left early! Oh well there is always next year.

Have you met someone famous let us know. And please no exaggerations of how Dennis Rodman took you out to Dennys! Thanks for reading!

    “Simple Things Of Life”

    By Jason | August 25, 2008

I love the simple things of life. I love a summer barbecue. I love riding my bicycle with my wife at sunset, I love walking my dog, I love reading a book, I love watching a ball game on the weekends, I love going on a picnic, I love just to sit back and relax,  in all honesty I really just live for the weekends. My job and many of my relationships have my Monday through Fridays, but on the weekends something magical happens, I go from an overworked, stressed out, over complicated life to a magical world, where most problems and stresses are forbidden to enter. My weekend is my time to catch a nap, or a ball, or to take a step back and sniff the warm summer air. My weekends are my time for the simple things of life.

Its interesting to me that when I got married two years ago I really didn’t have much of a care in the world, now I have a mortgage, a car payment, bills, and a puppy! The puppy is somewhat part of the simple things of my life until she has an accident on the floor then things are not so simple!

I find the simple things in life keep my sanity in check. Whether its as simple as me taking an hour and taking a drive with my wife on a Sunday afternoon, or its playing fetch with the dog, I find these weekend moments help me get geared up for the next work week.  My wife and I decided to create this blog to talk about the simple things of life like buying a cup of fresh lemonade from a child who has a makeshift lemonade stand down the street and to talk about the not so simple things of life, like professional or personal stresses and events that shape our lives. We hope as you read this blog you can relate to us as we experience the simple and the not so simple things of life.
